Thanksgiving Thoughts

I look forward to Thanksgiving each year. I have a lot of warm, cozy memories from my childhood; all the warmth of Christmas without all the spending and commercialism.

My thankfulness is abundant as I have been richly blessed: my children, my friends both IRL and here on LJ, my cats, my home, my job, and the list goes on. I'm also most grateful for the opportunity afforded here for new creative outlets that I've never even thought about trying before. And I have to mention that I'm in awe and have so much love for all the talent that you all share in your writing, your art, your icons, and your just plain thingnessTMBertie.

Following on zekkass's holiday meme, comment with your username and I will tell you why I'm thankful to have you on my flist. Or just thankful for you in general. And then post in your own journal if you would like to share the thankfulness! (If you wish to opt out on this part, it's quite alright.)

And to add my own twist, share a quote about the holiday or gratitude in your post!

"Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the gratitude."
—E.P. Powell

Yay! Hit me, babe. And, on googling gratitude quotes, I found a good one:

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."
-John F. Kennedy

True, dat!

Happy thanksgiving, my dear.

Excellent quote, thanks!

I'm thankful to you for all your encouragement and support in my writing endeavors; Happy Denial Land where our S/H fantasies can take full reign; our shared kinks and buttons (a seemingly large and ever-growing list {g}), our mutual OTP (so lovely to have someone equally obsessive to share with!); our ongoing correspondence; and your excellent stories (belts and ties, huzzah!). And I'm grateful for your wonderful kindness and spot-on sense of humor.

*hugs and mwahs* Have a wonderful holiday!

I have strong doubts that the first Thanksgiving even remotely resembled the "history" I was told in second grade. But considering that (when it comes to holidays) mainstream America's traditions tend to be over-eating, shopping, or getting drunk, I suppose it's a miracle that the concept of giving thanks even surfaces at all.

Hee! Love the little banner you made! XD

I'm thankful for your enthusiasm, the gorgeous photos that you share so generously with me, your willingness to participate in the never-ending journal post {g}, our shared love for Fry and Laurie, and your sweet spirit.

*hugs* Hope your Thanksgiving has been as restful/productive as you wanted it to be.

Eeek! I forgot to leave you a little quote-y. This one is particularly true for me in light of all my new friendships here on LJ!

I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new.

What a beautiful quote from Emerson! I'm truly honored to be a friend...Here's a favorite musical quote for you, to show the feeling is mutual...

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running running, yeah to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
all you got to do is call
and I'll be there, yes i will.
You've got a friend...

A quote...?

I'd rather teach from one bird how to sing
then teach ten thousand stars how not to dance
-e.e. cummings

And I'll volunteer for the meme. :D

OK, m'dear!

I'm thankful for you because of the creativity you show in your writing. I'm amazed at where you take some of your stories! (that's a good thing {g}). Extra thanks and lurve for the Tony & Control fic. XD

Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

Aw, thanks!

America had often been discovered before Columbus, but it had always been hushed up.
