Summary: Jeeves writes a letter.
Author's note: I wrote this in reply to a meme that
Greetings, miss,
I trust that the past year was of a joyous nature to you and that the coming year will be even more felicitous.
While I am not traditionally in the habit of drawing up resolutions when a new year is upon me, I have made one promise to myself this year: I shall share the true feelings I hold for Mr. Wooster with him directly and face whatever consequences arise. Rest assured that I have been gradually preparing him for this eventuality. You might recall when Mr. Bingo Little read from the collected works of Rosie M. Banks in order to prime his uncle for the young gentleman's marriage announcement? I have undertaken a similar contrivance, reading regularly to my employer from certain authors of, shall we say, an appropriate frame of mind.
One of my particular favourite poems is from Mr. Walt Whitman. I ensure that I read this to him regularly.
O you whom I often and silently come where you are that I may be with you,
As I walk by your side or sit near, or remain in the same room with you,
Little you know the subtle electric fire that for your sake is playing within me.
I close my letter now in order to go and prepare Mr. Wooster's breakfast. Again, please accept my warmest wishes for a bonne année, miss.
R. Jeeves

When I found this Whitman poem, I was thrilled...it's like it was written for our darling boys!
Thanks for reading, and thanks for commenting!
It is so in character. Sweet and clever at the same time.
Thanks for your lovely comment. :)
I'm so glad you liked this little thingummy. :D
I read through quite a bit of Whitman, and when I came to this one, I said, "Eulalie!" No, wait..."Eucharist!"... what's that bally word? "Eu" something..."Euphonium!"...no wait, I've got it: "Eureka!"
Hee! :P
I thought that the word count thing was what you said; thanks for clarifying! Is there an official list of what's what? Like drabble = 100 words of less, ficlet = 101 - ?? words, and then what? Inquiring minds want to know! ;)
*loves precision*

Excellent writing, thanks for making me smile, then giggle like a fangirl! :-D
Yes, our heroes will indeed get together. It's such fun to think about all the, um, activities they'll undertake once the kissing gets started. ;)
Yay! for fangirly giggling! :D
